WHAT IS HEMP EXTRACT?

Hemp extract is also known as cannabidiol. It’s a compound naturally found in cannabis plants. Recently, hemp extract has become popular for its many health benefits. The extract is a very effective pain reliever – many people suffering from cancer, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, and other kinds of chronic pain have found it to be a great natural treatment, without the side effects of other traditional pain relievers. HEMP EXTRACT vs HEMP SEED OIL

Not all of these products contain hemp extract – but some might be trying to make you think they do. One product that’s easy to confuse with hemp extract is hemp seed oil. Unlike hemp extract, which is processed from the plant’s leaves, hemp seed oil is extracted (as the name suggests) from the seeds. It’s an oil with plenty of healthy uses in cooking and skincare, similar to sunflower seed oil. However, it does not contain cannabidiol and therefore doesn’t have any significant health benefits. When you’re shopping, check the list of ingredients for cannabidiol – that’s how you’ll know you’re getting true hemp extract.

HEMP EXTRACT vs MARIJUANA

Some people may be wary of hemp extract because they associate it with marijuana. Over time, farmers have bred varieties of cannabis plants that contain less THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the active ingredient in marijuana that gives it psychoactive effects. Plants with less than 0.3 percent THC are classified as hemp, and these plants are where hemp extract comes from. This is how hemp extract delivers the health and mood benefits without creating the “high” that marijuana does.
